Graduate Division

 

Graduate Division has overall responsibility for all aspects of graduate education at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa (UHM). The Graduate Division oversees the development, implementation and assessment of graduate programs, the appointment and evaluation of graduate chairs and faculty, and the admission and guidance of graduate students from matriculation through graduation.

Career Services

 

The University of Hawai`i at Manoa Career Services office offers a wide range of services, programs and resources to assist students and alumni in all areas of career planning and job search.

Gender Equity Counselor

 

The Office of the Gender Equity Counselor provides information, for students, staff and faculty at UH Manoa, conducts educational workshops for the entire campus community, and provides advocacy and informal resolutions for students.

Hamilton Library

 

The University of Hawaii at Manoa Library is the largest library in the state and the Pacific region and the flagship library for the University of Hawaii System. The library faculty and staff stand ready to help you with your learning and research endeavors.

Student Learning Programs & Services (Sinclair Library)

 

The Sinclair Library is a popular destination for UH students, faculty, and staff because they can find more than 100,000 books, magazines, sheet music, videos, CDs, DVDs, audiocassettes, phonodiscs, and other media.

Information Technology Services (ITS)

 

ITS provides a broad range of computing and communications technologies that support learning, teaching, research, public services, and administration. Information technology support is available to faculty, staff, and students of the University of Hawaii (UH) system.

KOKUA

 

The KOKUA Program is the UH M?noa office for students with disabilities. We serve undergraduate, graduate and professional students with learning, physical, psychiatric and other documented disabilities. In the spirit of “aloha” and respect, we work together — students, faculty, staff and KOKUA — to facilitate equal access by students with disabilities to the Manoa experience.

Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education

 

With extramural grants and contracts in excess of $300 million in 2002-03, Manoa excels in research related to our physical landscape, our heritage and our people. Our landscape facilitates advances in marine biology, oceanography, underwater robotic technology, astronomy, geology and geophysics, agriculture, aquaculture and tropical medicine. Our heritage, our people and close ties to the Asian and Pacific region create a favorable environment for study and research in the arts, genetics, intercultural relations, linguistics, religion and philosophy.

Office of the Vice Chancellor for Students

 

The Office of Student Affairs (OSA) encompasses non-academic student support services–co-curricular activities, housing, counseling and career guidance, employment, and health, which serve all students. OSA also administers programs that provide support services to minority students, especially Hawaiians and Filipinos, students with disabilities, senior citizens, and assists students who have special problems or concerns, such as academic grievances, and student conduct issues.

Outreach College

 

Extending the rich resources of the University of Hawai‘i to the community and world, Outreach College presents year-round learning opportunities for both traditional and nontraditional students. Diverse options make UH courses more accessible than ever—on the Manoa campus (days, evenings, weekends) through Outreach programs on Hawai‘i, Maui, Kaua‘i, Moloka‘i, and Lana‘i, and via the web, wherever you are in the world.

Student Equity, Excellence, and Diversity (SEED)

 

The Office of Student Equity, Excellence and Diversity (SEED) recognizes underrepresented groups in higher education. We provide programs for the recruitment and success of students from these groups. Further, we provide administrative support to committees addressing diversity issues at Manoa and system wide.

The UH Manoa ombuds staff will help you deal with any problems that faculty, students and staff may have with the university. We are impartial and offer a safe, confidential way of helping you deal with your problems.

Campus Center Leisure Programs

 

The Leisure Program was designed to provide students and the community with a variety of activities that would compliment the academic experience. The Campus Center Leisure Program provides quality activities ranging from arts and crafts to outdoor recreation. The programs provided are all reasonably priced (with an additional discount to students) as are the various equipment that can be rented.

The Campus Security department was established by the Board of Regents and empowered to enforce federal, state, and local laws as well as university rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

Children’s Center

 

The UH-Manoa Children’s Center provides on-campus early education for 2-5 year old children of UHM students, staff, and faculty.

International Student Services (ISS)

 

The International Student Services (ISS) provides assistance to approximately 1,600 foreign students who come from about 90 countries to study at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa (UHM).

Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Student Services Office

 

The University of Hawai’i at Manoa Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) Student Services Office envisions lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people as fully included and affirmed in every aspect of the University of Hawai’i community.

UH Manoa Student Housing

 

UH Manoa Student Housing provides on-campus housing to Manoa students in a variety of living arrangements that include apartments and traditional coed facilities, single and double occupancy rooms, suites and apartment units.

University Health Services Manoa (UHSM)

 

The University Health Services Manoa (UHSM) is staffed by physicians, nurse clinicians, nurses, and other support staff. A wide range of medical services and programs are offered. These include the General Medical Clinic, the Women’s Health Clinic, Sports Medicine, dermatology, pharmacy, clinical laboratory, student training, employment and volunteer opportunities.

Women’s Center (Program Against Violence to Women)

 

The Women’s Center is devoted to supporting the academic careers of both undergraduate and graduate students regardless of their background. This mission helps to strengthen the multicultural and gender-sensitive aspects of the university and fosters an environment free of racism, sexism and homophobia.
